Mauricio Soto majored in Translation and Interpretation in Spanish, English and German at the Universidad Ricardo Palma (Lima, Peru), Intercultural Studies at the Universitat Rovira Virgili, Spain, and Translation Studies at the Sprachen und Dolmetscher Institut München, Germany. Mauricio also holds a B.A. in Psychology awarded by the Universidad de Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Prior to starting the Program, Mauricio worked as a freelance Spanish tutor in Germany, Argentina and Peru. In 2004- 2005 Mauricio collaborated with the Cross Cultural Solutions volunteering program in the Trujillo House in Peru, where he was responsible for preparing the Spanish language program. Additionally, during January 2005 he worked as a Spanish teacher for the PSC (Peruvian Spanish and Culture) Program for undergraduate students from Luther College, Iowa, USA. In 2005, he started working with teaching Spanish online to students overseas. During 2006, he was assigned to develop materials and strategies for a Spanish Online Program. In 2007, he was appointed to prepare and tutor the Spanish program for the CUSO (Canadian voluntering agency) cooperants in Peru.
Among his qualifications in Spanish language are: an ELE Teaching Certificate and the Certificate for DELE Examiners, awarded by the Instituto Cervantes from Spain.
Mauricio has also done extensive travelling around Peru and several countries in South and Central America. Some of these trips have been mainly focused on language and sociocultural awareness. This experience is transmitted through the lessons and the materials compiled along the past few years.
In the last ten years Mauricio has taught students from around 50 different countries. All of these students have contributed a lot to Spanish Rules and the experience has been and still is meaningful and rewarding for both, Spanish Rules and our students.
